You know what I'm going to say...

Peter is hard core researching dogs.  I am trying to come to grips with what our life would look like with a dog.  Peter's zest for life is an amazing gift and it should come as no surprise that he would like for the kids particularly Grayson to have a dog.  So, leave your comments of calm, low/no shed, kid friendly, apartment dogs.  Leave encouragement of all the ways it will be great!  I have thought of all the ways it may be difficult.  I don't need more of that.  Every time I think of us getting a dog, I can hear Michael Gordon laughing and saying that Peter would have a dog in no time.  Well, I did hold him off for a little while.

Side note:  In the words of Grayson, "I guess a coon got her."  The last chicken that is... Our last chicken was eaten by a raccoon a couple of weeks ago.  It was sad.  Peter is hard at work fortifying the coop and expanding it.  The new baby chicks will be arriving on May 18th.  I told Peter we might as well get a goat or a pot belly pig.

Add to the list of dog needs- good with chickens.  The summer looks to be animal filled.  I'm secretly excited about it all.  I did marry Peter on purpose after all.  He is super fun and always providing a new adventure.

The best dogs we ever had were all mutts.

it would really help me out if you guys got a dog. then i wouldn't have to get one any time soon for jack- he could just play with yours!

dogs are a lot of work, but lots & lots of love. and, i agree, mutts are the best.

i like the mutt route -they seem smarter. And what if you got one the same time as the chicks they could be buds and protect each other from the racoons -which i hate by the way.

Any good dog will clean up all the food on the floor that your kids drop during dinner! That's about all the good stuff I can say!

You can have our dog. He is great with kids. I make no guarantees about his feelings toward chickens.
