Playing hard!

We have embraced summer fully in this household! Since our house is under construction for the sixth month, we have taken the opportunity to be out of it as much as possible. We have been playing so hard that we fall into bed exhausted at night. We have been to the Lake two weekends with some new friends. Lillian learned to knee board and Grayson loved tubing behind the boat. We swam, caught turtles, ate cicadas (yikes) and fished. We have been to our favorite circus- Circus Flora. It is a St. Louis based circus and a favorite family event each summer. We visited my family in Louisiana for VBS at the church where I grew up. In Louisiana we did a lot of visiting with family and friends. We ate a lot of yummy food. We swam a ton because it was too hot to do anything else. We caught an alligator and ate him. We caught fish and tons of turtles. The kids have enjoyed a week of art camp and are currently going to an amazing swim camp. Lillian is exploding under the direction. I neglected to plan anything for July so we will be our favorite local pool. We have spent all of our spare time in June there playing with friends.

Our house seems to suddenly be transforming into a happy place again. There is still plenty of work to be done, but the addition is coming together again. It doesn't look like a fire ever occurred there. I am so very glad about that. The roof is almost complete as in it no longer leaks which it has done for most of the last few months causing a mad dash upstairs to move buckets every time it rains. The dry wall and insulation is in so this week they are painting the finish color. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I could not be more excited about a "finish" item happening. I am so very pleased with the color. It is a pale gray.

So we are having a sweet summer of lots of family time - reading, biking, traveling, swimming, laughing... I was greeted with fresh ground french pressed coffee by Lillian when I woke up this morning. I could totally get used to mid-sized kids. Hope you are having a happy summer too!
