Finally

Finally, Grayson has something to say and it came all at once. On Saturday, he started the day by saying milk which sounded like "ilk". I recounted this to Susan later in the day and she offered him some milk to which he replied clearly, "No". I could not believe this two words in a day. In the evening, Lillian, Grayson and I were on her bed. He pointed at a basket of books and said "ook". He has said milk and book multiple times, now, and Peter has verified that we will be counting them as words. (Peter has the job of verifying that I am not reading in to what the children are saying.) This is all very exciting. Grayson is coming into his own. He got in the middle of all the Maynor cousins yesterday and did a little dance with them. He doesn't seem to know that he is the youngest. He is climbing on everything and jumping between objects. He is turning into a little boy and not a baby. If is wasn't so fun, we would be sad. I wouldn't mind some suggestions about the climbing. I figure he will fall and quit doing it or get really good at it. My back up plan is to just buy a helmet.

I think you might be buying alot of helmets during his time with you.

I don't know--he seemed to say something resembling Genna last time I saw him (right after you asked him who I was). Pete was galavanting with Matthew, so there was no confirmation, but I remember it well. I'll admit that "ilk" is a little more convincing as a first.

We have the same climbing problem with Bronwyn. She doesn't seem to have any fear about it at all, which is worrisome. We were in the backyard of the compound the other day and I turned around and she was halfway up a ladder to the roof of the garage (and not slowing down--she speeds up when she sees us coming). Just when I think I know all the dangerous spots at home, she gets a little taller and can get up on something else. Sorry, no solutions, just sympathy!
